We are running four different interdisciplinary ,integrated cross cutting programs such as: (SOKIA - BENAA Rural Development - School Programs – Low cost furniture)
SOKIA is a program that aims to execute 100 purified drinking water treatment stations to serve one million people in one hundred villages. The priority areas to serve are:
1. Villages that are not connected with basic water infrastructure, with no drinking water stations and inhabitants, depend on water delivery.
2. Villages that has no sanitation or hygiene services and inhabitants are depending on draining their wastewater in canals without any sort of treatment.
BENAA Rural Development is a program that aims to provide Ecological Sanitation and Regional Planning for rural communities by implementing integrated, interdisciplinary, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions that fit with rural contexts to achieve the main pillars of rural development, named the environmental, social and economic development.
BENAA School & Foster house Programs is a program that aims at providing hygiene solutions and different water treatments upon each case differentiating from (Grey water treatment, Black water treatment, Drinking water treatment solutions), developing playgrounds, walls paintings and developing up-cycled furniture as well designing landscapes and planting trees using the treated water from the grey water treatment solution.
DWSS Project addresses accessibility and funding issues in remote rural communities. With the power of the Internet of Things, DWSS provides an off-grid smart sanitation unit with remote monitoring and early warning systems. Using a mobile app, farmers are informed of the nutrient loads in the treated water to encourage wastewater reuse and optimize the usage of fertilizers. The sanitation unit is financed by the end users through a monthly subscription paid with mobile wallets.
Our main community-led participatory projects and still growing: (water and sanitation solutions, urban development and sustainable architecture solution, Solid Waste Management, Agriculture and Post-Harvesting solutions)
The project aims at protecting and preserving regional water resources by innovating prefabricated integrated water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions and building a youth-led enabling environment.
The project aims at creating contextual, low-cost, sustainable architecture. Our work is a profound commitment to finding innovative design and construction solutions, with a dedication to vernacular architecture and the potential of natural materials. This is achieved with the help of a working methodology and a spirit of curiosity and experimentation.
The project aims at collecting, treating, and disposing of solid material that is discarded. As well as offering solutions for recycling items that do not belong to garbage or trash and through which, those wastes can be changed and used as a valuable resource. BENAA mainly focuses on designing and implementing furniture units and wood accessories with low-cost and high quality recycled materials seeking for developing poor rural areas in Egypt.
The project aims at introducing a change in farming techniques for maximum production in the cropping pattern and takes care of optimal utilization of resources. The farm wastes under this system are recycled for productive purposes in the integrated system. A judicious mix of agricultural business models suited to the given agro-climatic conditions and socio-economic status of the farmers would bring prosperity in the farming.
The project aims at dealing with any educational environment (schools - universities - community schools - etc.) by improving the education environment, facilities, and open spaces to create an effective learning environment between the student, and the educational institution and improve the learning process.
BENAA utilizes the translated knowledge to prepare several trainings for youth who can build on the acquired knowledge for further actions through running three main trainings: Youth Activation Modules, Technical Modules, and Impact Modules. All the trainings include group discussions, brainstorming, and exploring innovative ideas for implementation.
Focuses on building a new well-educated generation about environmental issues and sustainability. That targets kids from 6-18 years old.
Empowering youth to start up local initiatives in the field of environmental sustainability. We created more than 42 projects and prototypes during the last 2 years.
Partners: Euforia, Switzerland
Technical training, in which we delivered several workshops and pieces of training in the field of Environmental Sustainability and trained 600+ specialists.
We aim to build an open-source library containing applied knowledge in the field of water and sanitation (WASH) through running three main activities: Translation, Localization and Simplification, and Dissemination.
BENAA is converting and simplifying the translated knowledge into innovative and interactive materials to create interest among the target groups of this knowledge.
BENAA is translating -into Arabic- the essential practical knowledge basis for all of BENAA’s activities, such as the field of sustainable WASH, sustainable architecture, and so on.
BENAA is publishing (online and offline) widely the prepared materials, and create public awareness.
